Overview
Increasingly it seems, the idea is being put forward that in order to tackle some of the most entrenched problems facing the UK, the US or the planet, there needs to be a fundamental rethinking of the values that underpin the way that individuals, businesses and nations function and interact.
It is suggested that greater compassion, global empathy, insistence on seeking truth rather than convenient narratives and less individualistic behaviour and pure profit seeking may help to unpick some of the complex challenges we face such as continued reliance on and investment in fossil fuels despite known consequences, a justice system can seem to place revenge above rehabilitation and a reluctance or inability to properly break down systemic racism.
Why is this necessary now? Can corporations have values? How can governments promote desired behaviours and should they? This interview series will engage with academics, businesses and policymakers to consider these ideas.
